In the virtual world, we are familiar with the term artificial intelligence, but what exactly is it? In wikipedia, it is explained that artificial intelligence is the intelligence of scientific entities, a system that can be regulated in a scientific context. However, we may often be confused and tend to take the more specific definition proposed by Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein, which is the ability of a system to interpret external data appropriately, then study that data and use it to achieve or perform certain tasks more adaptively and flexibly.
In its development, if you follow the definition from wikipedia, then any search engine, be it a search in e-commerce such as Tokopedia or even an old-school version of Google, is included in it. The search system is arranged so that keyword search results can be reasonable and appropriate. In contrast to the second opinion, search in e-commerce does not enter because it is not able to interpret or be adaptive or flexible to external data in the form of keywords. However, Google has now entered the second opinion, because the rank brain technology, which is able to learn from the user’s search patterns and then interpret at the same time has adaptive and flexible properties. Adaptive and flexible here means that the rank brain is able to predict what the user is referring to.
We give an example of this prediction as follows. Someone intends to look for a wireless mouse but he doesn’t know that there are 2 types, one that uses a dongle and one that uses bluetooth. In the search box, the user enters the keyword “wireless mouse”, well rank brain predicts that the user is looking for a wireless mouse. So the search results list bluetooth mouse sources, even though the website does not have the word wireless.
Artificial intelligence according to these two definitions can indeed be used, but for now the second definition can only be achieved by rank brains. Others such as asked Veronika, a virtual assistant, is still limited to the first understanding of artificial intelligence. Because it basically uses a chatbot that cannot be recognized as a chatbot, it is different from a chatbot that auto-replies.
